Enjoying Each Other

We are fortunate that there is so much to do in Oregon! As soon as we moved here, football season was getting started. We joined the other 25,000 students and Beaver fans for every home game. The stadium is about 3 miles down the road and while sometimes we drive, we've also been known to bike down there and freeze our tails off on the way home. We love football games because student tickets are free and it's also a great social time with friends.

We have also had the opportunity to have both parents visit us since we moved out here. My (Erin) parents came the first of October and brought my car. They thoroughly enjoyed their drive from Tennessee to Oregon with a few stops in between, like Calgary, Canada...is that on the way? Ha! We toured all over Oregon, some wine vineyards, the coast and the covered bridges. It was a very special time with them. Then in November, Daniel's parents flew out. OSU has a Dad's weekend in November where the students are encouraged to invite their Dads to visit. There are various events across campus and the Dads are also able to come to the football games on student tickets. We had a great time with them walking around Corvallis, visiting the Wave Lab where Daniel does some of his studies, touring the covered bridges, the football game, and driving up the coast. It was a quick weekend but so nice to have them visit as well.

Daniel and I are also busy staying physically fit. We joined the OSU Triathlon club and plan to do some triathlons together in the late spring and early fall. This picture is from a duathlon Daniel did in October. I volunteered at the race and cheered him on! We are also kicking up our running and training for the Napa Valley Marathon in Northern California in March. I (Erin) am excited and nervous because this will my first full marathon after doing a half last March. For Daniel, a marathon is a piece of cake!

We really are beginning to feel settled into Corvallis and are enjoying all the benefits of living out here. The rains have begun, but we know they will bring a beautiful spring and summer.
